Why this enhancement is therapeutic & healing
Deep tissue is more than just extra pressure. While similar strokes are used in classic massage, this therapeutic approach incorporates slower movement and added pressure on areas of tension and pain in order to reach the sub-layer of muscles and fascia, the name for connective tissue around the muscles.
When you feel ongoing stiffness or tension, or an injury from working out an adhesion has formed, what we typically refer to as “knots”. For this modality, massage therapists may use their elbows, fingertips or concentrate pressure on these points to loosen them and help restore mobility, decrease inflammation, reduce pain and release toxins from the body.
We always advise drinking a lot of water post massage to restore your natural balance and if possible soak in a warm bath with epsom or magnesium salt to relieve any remaining soreness.
